PATTERN AND PATTERN USAGE
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
While I would love to be able to list all my patterns in multiple venues, I cannot. For some patterns, I've opted to allow the publisher semi-exclusive publishing rights. This means that sometimes I am limited to selling my patterns only on my site, or under very limited circumstances.
Why are there multiple shopping cart options? How do I know which one to go with?
While I really like Ravelry and what it has to offer to me as a knitter and Designer, because they are considered a 3rd-party site, I cannot sell all my patterns through Ravelry (see above question). Thus, I have to use a different method to sell and deliver the patterns. In the end, I decided to leave it up to you, the buyer, to select which shopping service you want to use. However, due to the reason in the above question, some patterns, like Pfeiffer Falls, have only one shopping cart option.
What is your return policy on patterns?
All patterns are non-returnable regardless of format (paper or PDF) and regardless of whether you bought one of my patterns through Esty, Ravelry, at a craft fair or at a yarn shop.
You can still purchase the pattern and access the download link without having to be a Ravelry member. In the alternative, you can email me about the patterns you want to purchase, and I will send you a PayPal invoice. After you pay the invoice, I will manually email you the electronic files. Soon, you will also be able to purchase my patterns (hardcopy and pdf downloads) from Handicraft Café.
Can I sell something that I make from one of your patterns?
By purchasing or downloading one of my free patterns, you are purchasing or downloading my license to use the pattern for personal use only. If you would like to sell anything made from any of my patterns (whether free or purchased), you may only to so under a separate agreement. This includes anything you are doing for a fundraiser or charity. Please contact me directly to request permission and send your proposal along with any requests. Thanks!
What do some of the knitting abbreviations in your patterns mean?
Although many abbreviations are the same, they can vary from country to country, and from designer to designer. A list of the abbreviations I often use can be found here.
What do you do to ensure that a pattern is accurate?
I do my best to ensure that all my patterns are error-free and do lots of editing and proofing myself. Patterns published by third-party publications are edited and tech edited by editors hired by those publications. For patterns that I self-publish, I ensure that there are at least 2-3 test knitters for each pattern, and I also hire independent technical editors to review my patterns before they are released. However, please also recognize that the tech editors and I are human, and sometimes a error may slip through. If you think you have found an error, please contact me and let me know. Thanks!
Why do some of the charts appear to be upside-down?
To the eye, it may look like it, but some charts, such as the one in Buccaneer's Booty really are not because the sock is designed to knit from the cuff-down, thus requiring an "upside-down" chart. Yes, for you more experienced knitters, someone actually emailed and asked me this question.
Where can I get help for one of your patterns?
There are many ways to get help. If you need help in terms of skill level, you can ask your LYS for any classes on developing your knitting prowess. If you are looking for adaptations and modifications to my patterns, you can look at various online forums such as Ravlery.com to see what other crafty knitters have done. For more specialized techniques or clarifications, I've written several tutorials/FAQ help pages for some of the patterns. Check out the Pattern Tutorial, Tips & FAQ index page. If you need additional assistance or pattern support, my contact information is listed at the bottom of the last page of your pattern. There's also a Pattern Errata page.

What is a PDF? What is a PDF download?
PDF stands for Portable Download Format. The file type allows documents to be transferred between different types of computers. PDF downloads are computer documents which the Buyer may use on her/his own computer or print out for her/his own use. Depending on how the Seller delivers the PDF, a PDF can be a direct download that can be accessed after payment, sent as an attachment in an email or as a download link is delivered by e-mail that direct the Buyer to hosting site where the Buyer may download the pattern to their computer. When a Buyer purchases a pattern or document via PDF download, she/he will not receive anything material or tangible in the mail. In order to make the PDF file readable, on must have software to do so installed on the computer. The the software is not already installed or is an older version, on can download the latest Adobe Reader software (for free) from Adobe.com.
I do have PDF-reading software installed, but why can't I open or see your patterns?
Check to see if you have the latest software installed. Adobe Acrobat reader is current running and offering version 8. If you have an older version, you may not be able to open a document created with newer PDF converter software. Download a reader here.

Who designed your logo and pattern layout template?
A talented, meticulous and all-around super professional artist of Anaphase Studios.
Of course, I mostly get my yarns from Handicraft Café! However, when I travel, or if I need a yarn that Handicraft Café does not carry, I do like to visit other yarn shops in the area and try to support them as much as I can.
How can I be one of your test or sample knitters?
I already have a nice list of wonderful test and sample knitters who span a myriad of skill levels. However, if you'd like to be considered as a test or sample knitter, you can send me an email inquiry with some brief information about you, your Ravelry username (if you have one), and your knitting experience. I may not be able to respond to every inquiry or use everyone who wishes to test or sample knit, but I certainly appreciate and am flattered by your interest. Potential test and/or sample knitters may be required to fill out a detailed questionnaire regarding your skills/experience.
