 Arrrgyle Skullcap

Arrr! Two of my sister’s favorite design motifs are skulls and argyle. So, when I was trying to think of something to make for her, it was only natural that I’d come with with combination of the two.

Bring out your inner rebel pirate with this design, which is achieved via stranded colorwork and carrying the colors along the back.

  • Approximately 60-80yds/ 153-205cm each in 4 coordinating colors of DK weight yarn

  • Darning needle

  • Stitch markers

  • Sizes XS and M:
        US 4/ 3.5mm 16”/ 40cm circular needles, or size to obtain gauge
        US 4/ 3.5mm double-pointed needles
        US 2/ 2.75mm 16”/ 40cm circular needles, or 1-2 sizes smaller than main needles

  • Sizes S and XL:
        US 5/ 3.75mm 16”/ 40cm circular needles, or size to obtain gauge.
        US 5/ 3.75mm double-pointed needles
        US 3/ 3.25mm 16”/ 40cm circular needles, or 1-2 sizes smaller than main needles

  • Sizes L and XXL:
        US 6/4mm 16”/ 40cm circular needles, or size to obtain gauge.
        US 6/4mm double pointed needles
        US 4/ 3.5 mm 16”/ 40cm circular needles, or 1-2 sizes smaller than main needles

Gauge

25 sts and 31 rows = 4”/ 10cm in St st. on US 4/ 3.5mm
23 sts and 29 rows = 4”/ 10cm in St st. on US 5/ 3.75mm
21 sts and 27 rows = 4”/ 10cm in St st. on US 6/ 4mm
