I studied cultural and social anthropology in school. Because of that background and my continued interest in the subject, I always seek out to see old buildings, indigenous culture and ancient artifacts in my travels. Mahika, which is Sanskrit for earth, is inspired by hand-painted tile work I've seen many of my travels. This beanie hat is worked from the bottom up using a stranded colorwork technique. Currently, Mahika is only available for purchase at your local yarn store or via PDF download from Bijou Basin Ranch. Mahika will be available on Crafty Diversions and a wider wholesale distribution after June 2011. |
